Leon Burson Post 395

Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
 

Eligibility:
*Must be in the upper half of the graduating class.
*Must have a minimum “C” grade point average.
*Financial need
*Submit a Statement of desire on the application as to why they want to pursue an education beyond high School.
*Applicant must have a good record of school and community citizenship.
*Applicant must show individual responsibility.

Amount:
*The scholarship is a onetime grant in the amount of $1,000 and will be awarded from Leon Burson Post 395 Scholarship Fund. The amount will be paid in two installments.  The first installment will be disbursed at the beginning of the first Semester, when the scholarship committee receives evidence of enrollment in an institution of learning beyond high school. The second installment will be disbursed upon verification that the student has maintained a grade average of “C” or higher.  The recipient must submit a copy of the transcript of the completed semester to the Scholarship Committee Chairman.  Checks will be mailed to the home address as recorded on the application.

The scholarship  committee of Leon Burson Post 395  will review all applications and submit up to three applications to the Regional Superintendent of Education for Kendall and Grundy Counties who will make the final selection.

Application Availability and Deadline:

*Applications will be available on the Legion web site or by calling the Scholarship Committee Chairman at 630 552-8313.  Applications for Plano High School seniors are available from the school Guidance Counselor.  Completed applications must be filled with the PHS guidance counselor by May 1st for PHS seniors.  All others with their school counselor to be forwarded to Leon Burson Post 395 at address shown above by May 1st.
