LEON BURSON POST 395 of the AMERICAN LEGION “The objective of the scholarship is to promote further education for the purpose of preparing graduates for careers in the twenty first century market place. The business world and job market of today ranges from technical skills in a wide range of fields to entrepreneurs in the business world. This scholarship is intended to assist the recipient in preparation for whatever field of endeavor he or she may choose to enter. Requirements:Available to a graduating senior of Plano High School who plans to pursue post high school education at any level seeking a degree, associate degree, diploma or specialty certification. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States. Eligibility: *Must be in the upper half of the graduating class. *Must have a minimum “C” grade point average. *Financial need *Submit a statement of desire on the application as to why they want to pursue an education beyond High School. *Applicant must have a good record of school and community citizenship. *Applicant must show individual responsibility. AMOUNT: *The scholarship is a onetime grant in the amount of $1,000 and will be awarded from Leon Burson Post 395 Scholarship Fund. The amount will be paid in two installments. The first installment will be disbursed at the beginning of the first semester, when the scholarship committee receives evidence of enrollment in an institution of learning beyond high school. The second installment will be disbursed upon verification that the student has maintained a grade average of “C” or higher. The recipient must submit a copy of the transcript of the just completed semester to the Scholarship Committee Chairman. Checks will be mailed to the home address as recorded on the application.
